WASHINGTON — Institute for Energy Research President Thomas Pyle issued the following statement on EPA’s finalized methane regulations:
“Once again, an Obama administration “climate regulation” has no discernible climate impact. Using the agency’s own model, the most EPA’s new attack on jobs and affordable energy might achieve is 4 one-thousandths of a degree of avoided warming by 2100.
“These regulations aren’t about climate. They are about increasing the cost of reliable, affordable energy to make Mr. Obama’s pet energy sources, such as wind and solar, appear more cost effective than they actually are.
“And while these regulations won’t impact the climate, they will increase the cost of natural gas for American families that just want to keep their houses warm, have hot water, and use their dryers.
“With a constant stream of regulations like this that make no environmental or economic sense, its no wonder why the economy cannot get back on track.”
